Crestview Man Brings Gun Inside Twin Hills Park After Getting Upset Over Basketball Game

Crestview, FL — A 19-year-old Crestview man has been arrested after he brandished a loaded handgun at Twin Hills Park Gymnasium after getting upset over a basketball game.

According to a Crestview Police Department arrest report, Malique Dejon Gainer, of Crestview FL. Was playing basketball at Twin Hills Park Gymnasium on Wednesday evening and got upset. Gainer then walked out to the parking lot where he retrieved a .380 Taurus Curve from his person, ejected one round in the parking lot and started pacing around. Gainer then walked back to the gymnasium.
The report stated Gainer was arguing with himself as he walked back into the gymnasium.
While inside Twin Hills Park Gym, Gainer started yelling. Although Gainer did not fire the gun he had it pointed to the side while he was yelling. A person then grabbed Gainer and dragged him outside where Gainer got in a white Ford Explorer and left the park.
Police later caught up to Gainer on James Lee Blvd and got into a short pursuit that stopped at his residence on Long Dr. Gainer fled into the back yard where he was taken into custody. A search of the area where Gainer fled to resulted in the recovery of the handgun.
Gainer was charged with Improper Exhibition of a Firearm, Tampering with Evidence and Resisting Officer Without Violence.
