DeFuniak Springs Police were notified Saturday morning of several fraudulent prescriptions that were called in to local pharmacies.  A Pharmacist from WalMart advised that they received a call from a purported office assistant requesting a prescription in the name of an elderly man for promethazine with codeine.  Additionally the caller requested a “Z pack” and gave the Doctor’s information for a legitimate doctor in Madison, FL.  The Pharmacist was suspicious and contacted the Doctor to verify.  The Doctor denied knowing the patient and was unfamiliar with requesting the medications.  Officers also took a similar report from the pharmacy located at Winn Dixie.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. WalMart notified the police that a subject was at the pharmacy attempting to pickup the fraudulent prescriptions.  As Officers approached the pharmacy, a black male, later identified as Wesley Alaster Harper of Tampa, began running towards the garden center area.  He then doubled back and was detained by Officers in the middle of the store.

A search of Harper’s person revealed a fake driver’s license in the name of a female.  Harper refused to answer questions from Officers.

Harper arrested and transported to the Walton County Jail where he was booked on charges of Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud, Possession of a Forged Driver’s License, and Resisting and Officer Without Violence.
