Okaloosa County Emergency Medical Services To Offer Free Transportation with “Home for the Holidays” Program

The Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Medical Services Division will offer free transportation (on a space available basis) to local residents who would otherwise be unable to come home for holiday celebrations.

The “Home for the Holidays” program is designed to allow patients in skilled nursing and adult congregate living facilities to go home to family members for holiday dinner. Patients must be self-supporting while at the residence, and left in the care of a responsible family member.

Any Okaloosa County resident who meets the qualifications for the program, while resources are available, will be offered a free round trip that originates and ends in Okaloosa County. The “Home for the Holidays” program will operate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, from 8:00am until 8:00pm. All requests for transportation must be received by the Emergency Medical Services Division by noon on Friday, December 22nd, 2017.

The “Home for the Holidays” program has been a great success in years past, and brings cheer and goodwill both to those residents who take advantage of the program, and to the Emergency Medical Services Staff who provide the service. The program is the Department of Public Safety’s way of saying “Happy Holidays” to all county residents.
