Neither Alcohol Nor Narcotics Contributed to Evers’ Fatal Crash

Baker, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol has concluded their Traffic Homicide Investigation in fatal accident that took the life of Senator Gregory Evers.

According to a news release for the Florida Highway Patrol, Evers’ toxicology report revealed no alcohol or narcotics in his system at the time of his August 21st crash. The toxicology report did reveal Evers had prescribed medication for ongoing health issues.

On Monday, August 21, 2017, Evers was traveling north bound on Griffith Mill Rd. in a 2005 GMC Pickup truck. Evers failed to negotiate a curve in the road and continued north bound crossing the south bound lanes. Evers’ truck collided with the guardrail on the west shoulder of the roadway at Penny Creek bridge and continued in a northerly direction. Evers’ truck entered Penny Creek and became submerged.

The wreckage was not found until the next day.
