Crestview Man in Critical Condition After Apartment Complex Shooting

Crestview, FL – Officers with the Crestview Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Crape Myrtle Apartments located at 1005 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave in Crestview.

According to a news release, officers responded to the apartment complex which was formerly named Mir-A-Mar Apartments at 1:23 am Wednesday morning for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers discovered, 22 year old Richard Earl Lee King of Crestview, with a gun shot to the head.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim’s silver Acura had several bullet holes in it and had backed into a resident’s vehicle. Investigator’s also found several shell casings at the scene as well as a black Cadillac bearing Texas license plates with blood inside.

“We’re trying to follow up on several leads” said Sgt, Harp with the Criminal Investigations Division. “Several people who were on the scene took off when we arrived”.

King was transported to to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center’s Trauma Center and is listed in critical condition at the time of this report.

FDLE (Florida Department of La Enforcement) was requested to respond to assist in processing the crime scene and investigating the shooting.
