Former State Senator Greg Evers Victim of Fatal Wreck in Baker

Baker, FL – A single vehicle accident that occurred sometime late Monday Evening has claimed the life of Former Florida Senator Greg Evers.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, 62 year old Gregory R. Evers of Baker, was traveling north bound on Griffith Mill Rd. in a 2005 GMC Pickup truck.
The release stated Evers failed to negotiate a curve in the road and continued north bound crossing the south bound lanes. Evers’ truck collided with the guardrail on the west shoulder of the roadway at Penny Creek bridge and continued in a northerly direction. Evers’ truck entered Penny Creek and became submerged.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the exact time of the accident is unknown and is believed to have occurred sometime Monday night. The news release further stated it is unknown if Evers was wearing a seatbelt and that Alcohol results are pending further investigation of the traffic homicide investigation.
Greg Evers was a local farmer, local business owner who owned Akers of Strawberries and Baker Farm Center, both located in Baker, FL and served in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate. He was a true spokesman for the local community and fought for the rights of gun owners.
