Driver’s Seat Belt Infraction Leads to Passenger’s Cocaine Trafficking Arrest

Ft. Walton Bch, FL – An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy who made a traffic stop after spotting a driver not wearing his seat belt quickly noticed the odor of marijuana emanating from the truck.

That odor sparked a search that led to a backpack containing jeweler’s bags, two bags containing 52 grams of cocaine 8 grams of marijuana and a digital scale with marijuana residue. The backpack was on the floorboard next to 44-year old Levitacus Cymande Riggins of Tampa who was a passenger in the truck. Also in the backpack was clothing and medical papers bearing Riggins name.

Riggins is now charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest took place around 11:30 a.m. August 3rd following a traffic stop on Denton Boulevard.
