Rumi retired a colonel from the U.S. Army after over 27 years of service, with the last 15 leading strategic communication and public affairs efforts. In her most recent position, Rumi directed Army public affairs activities for the U.S. Army in its Pacific area of responsibility. Her experience is enhanced by her bachelor’s degree in English from Florida International University and followed by her master’s in Public Administration with the University of Oklahoma. She also studied strategic communication and national security as a fellow with the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She lives in Freeport and originally hails from Pensacola.

CHELCO reorganized its communications and marketing departments to better improve member and public communication and community outreach. The results of this restructure are the establishment of a manager position as well as a dedicated communications and community affairs coordinator from existing positions. In addition to communications, this department will deal with community involvement, donations, youth programs, legislative affairs and economic development.

“With her wealth of experience, we are looking forward to advancing our strategic communications and marketing initiatives,” said Steve Wolfrom, vice president of Member Services Division.
