Pensacola Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide For June 8th Fatal Crash in Pace, FL

Pace, FL – A Pensacola man has now been charged with Vehicular Homicide among other charges for the June 8th accident at U.S. Hwy 90 and Floridatown Rd in Pace, FL that took the life of a Pace man/

On June 8, 2017 at approximately 6:02 a.m. Seth William Rubert of Pensacola, FL was operating a 2013 Dodge Avenger eastbound on U.S. Highway 90 in the inside lane. William Stewart of Pace, FL a operating his 1983 Chevrolet Malibu northbound in the left turn lane of County Road 197. Dale Maxwell of Milton, FL was operating a 2012 Fiat 500 and was stopped for a red traffic signal westbound on U.S. Highway 90 in the inside lane, approaching County Road 197.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Rubert was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a steady red traffic signal at 92 miles per hour in a posted 45 mile per hour zone, striking the left side of Stewart’s vehicle as he was negotiating a left turn onto westbound U.S. Highway 90. Debris from the crash struck the left side of Maxwell’s vehicle.

Due to injuries sustained in the crash, Stewart was pronounced deceased on scene and Rubert was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital.

Found within Rubert’s vehicle was 296 grams of packaged marijuana, rolling papers, plastic baggies, a digital scale, and a marijuana grinder. Rubert was released from the hospital on July 13, 2017 and turned himself in at the Santa Rosa County jail.

Rubert has been charged with Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Driving with Property Damage, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana more than 20 grams and  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending blood results.
