Infant Succumbs to Injuries Following Sunday Afternoon Wreck in Crestview

CRESTVIEW, FLA — The Crestview Police Department continues to investigate a now fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a Fort Walton Beach infant.
On Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:30 pm the Crestview Police Department responded to the intersection of S Ferdon Blvd and John King Rd of a reported two vehicle accident with injuries.
According to Officer Jay Seals, a Blue Kia SUV,driven by 77 YO Bettye Barbee of Crestview was north bound on Ferdon Blvd while a gray Honda Sedan driven by Fort Walton resident Jadarius Larkin was traveling South bound on Ferdon Blvd. Officer Seals stated in a report that Barbee attempted to make a left turn into Arby’s Restaurant and crossed into the path of Larkin’s Honda.
As a result of the collision, the Honda came to rest on the roadside near Arby’s and the Baymont Inn while the Kia spun and came to final rest in the southbound right lane facing southeast.
Larkin’s infant child was flown by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where she later succumbed to her injures. Larkin and his wife, Desjane, were taken to a local hospital as well as Barbee and her passengers Rebecca Coley and Jimmy Barbee, all of Crestview.
The southbound right lane was closed while the wreck site was investigated and reopened to traffic at 3:04 p.m.
Charges are pending the outcome of the traffic fatality investigation.
