CRESTVIEW, FLA — The Crestview Police Department continues to investigate a traffic accident that occurred around 12:30 Sunday afternoon at the intersection of State Road 85 and John King Road.
According to Officer Jay Seals, a northbound blue Kia SUV driven by Bettye Barbee, 77, of Crestview with two passengers turned left at John King to head across S.R. 85 toward the Arby’s restaurant. The Kia turned into the path of a southbound grey Honda sedan driven by Fort Walton Beach resident Jadarius Larkin, 27, who was traveling southbound on S.R. 85 toward Fort Walton Beach.
Larkin was with his wife, Desjane, and their infant daughter Kali. Barbee’s passengers were Rebecca Coley and Jimmy Barbee, both of Crestview.
The impact landed the Honda on the roadside near Arby’s and the Baymont Inn while the Kia spun and landed in the southbound right lane facing southeast.
All six people were transported to area hospitals for treatment, with the infant listed in guarded condition after being life-flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
The southbound right lane was closed while the wreck site was investigated and reopened to traffic at 3:04 p.m. No charges have been filed pending the conclusion of the investigation.
