A Pensacola man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the March 31, 2016 sever beating of his girlfriend to the point he was charged with attempted murder.

On March 31, 2016, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call. They found the female victim severely beaten over the majority of her body including her head, face, chest, stomach, back, arms, hands and legs.
She initially reported an intruder in her home, but later investigators determined her fiancé had beaten and threatened her over the course of the previous four days.

Zachary Ryan Kauffman, who pled guilty on April 20th, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison by Circuit Judge Jan Shackelford for Kidnapping to Inflict Bodily Harm or Terrorize Victim, Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery by Strangulation.
