Fleeing Speeder Crashes in Crestview at Ferdon and Interstate 10 Carrying Heroin and Meth

May 5, 2017
Attempts by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office to stop a speeding car on Interstate 10 Thursday ultimately led to the arrest of two Orlando residents in possession of more than thirty jeweler’s bags containing suspected heroin or heroin residue as well as plastic bags with methamphetamine.
Deputies tried to pull over the car after spotting it going ninety miles an hour in a 70 mph speed zone on Interstate 10. Instead of stopping, the driver of the car, later identified as 26-year old Donald Ludwig II, made a sudden exit at State Road 85 and then crashed into another vehicle. Ludwig immediately fled, but got only about 100 yards before being taken into custody by OCSO deputies. A passenger in the car was identified as 29-year old Jessica Ingham.
Inside Ludwig’s car deputies found more than thirty jeweler’s bags containing small amounts of suspected heroin, as well as methamphetamine, syringes and marijuana. Both Ludwig and Ingham were initially taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, then arrested upon their release.
At the Okaloosa County Jail, a small blue jeweler’s bag containing heroin was found on the ground where Ludwig was standing. Another bag was found in his boxer shorts and two more in his shoes. In addition, a similar bag with heroin was found in Ingham’s bra.
Ludwig is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, knowing driving with a suspended license (23 prior suspensions), possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and introduction of a controlled substance into a detention facility. Ingham is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Crestview Police Department worked the crash.
