Pensacola Man Convicted Of Robbery, Grand Theft And Resisting Stemming From A Convenience Store Holod Up

State Attorney Bill Eddins announced on Friday that on January 5, 2017, an Escambia County Jury convicted Jarell Blackmon of Robbery with a Firearm while Wearing a Mask, Grand Theft and Resisting an Officer without Violence.

On February 6, 2016, a masked gunman entered the Beacon Store on Cervantes and E St in Pensacola and pointed a handgun at the clerk while demanding money from the cash register. The clerk gave the masked gunman $500. During the robbery, the mask fell off of the gunman’s face and the clerk was able to identify Blackmon. The clerk then shot Blackmon as he was fleeing the store. Pensacola Police Department responded and located the Defendant within two city blocks of the Beacon Store. DNA evidence was presented at trial which further identified Blackmon as the masked gunman.

Jarrell Blackmon qualifies as a Prison Releasee Reoffender and is subject to a mandatory life sentence. This means that Blackmon will serve the life sentence day for day and without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for March 31, 2017 in front of Circuit Judge Jennie Kinsey.

The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Pensacola Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Thomas Williams prosecuted the case.
