Pedestrian Killed While Running In Bike lane On Hwy 98 in Gulf Breeze

A 58 year old Gulf Breeze man was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was running in the bike lane on U.S. 98 Monday evening.

On Monday, November 21, 2016 Edward O’Brien Pursell from Gulf Breeze was running in the bike lane of U.S. 98 on the south shoulder of the roadway. Michael Edward Magana also of Gulf Breeze was operating a 2015 GMC Acadia traveling eastbound on U.S. 98

Magana entered into the turn lane to turn right onto Village Parkway and struck Pursell with the front of his vehicle.

Pursell was pronounced deceased on the scene by paramedics at 7:09 PM.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol news release, alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Charges are pending.
