November 20, 2016
Ft. Walton Beach, FL – Okaloosa County Tax Collector Ben Anderson says, “If paid by the end of the month, property owners can take advantage of a 4% early payment discount. The deadline to receive that 4% early payment discount is November 30th.”
Anderson says, “We are hopeful our Citizens can save over $6.5 million this year by taking advantage of the 4% tax discount. This keeps more of their hard earned money on their kitchen table to the direct benefit of their families and the operation of their businesses.” Last November, Okaloosa County property owners saved over $6.4 million.
Anderson continues, “Based on property owners taking advantage of the 4% discount in November, we project that we will collect $163,700,000.00 by November 30th, representing 74.5% of the total tax roll. We mailed 122,509 bills, including notices for tangible personal property; these bills represent $219,804,950.79 for the operations of local governments and fire districts.”
Anderson says, “If customers would like to pay by check, we will have staff staged in the lobbies of most of our branch offices to receive those payments on November 28, 29 and 30. We want to make it easy for our customers to do business with us.” He continues, “Also, we have night drop boxes at the entrances of our offices; or mail your payment postmarked on or before November 30th. We post nightly so all Citizens receive the greatest savings.” Do Business Online, Not In Line! E-check is free when paying online at www.OkaloosaTax.com,
