Niceville Father & Son Face Possession of Child Pron Charges

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Niceville father and son with possession of child pornography after finding still images and videos on the pair’s electronic devices during the execution of a search warrant.

OCSO Investigators first arrested 27-year old John Bryan Hood during “Operation Wolf Hunter” last February, an undercover operation that cracked down on individuals using on-line websites to try to set up sexual encounters with underage juveniles. Hood, a registered sex offender from a 2014 arrest in Pensacola for traveling to meet a minor for sex, was arrested February 24th 2016 by the OCSO on charges of using a computer to solicit a minor and to commit a lewd or lascivious exhibition.

A search warrant was then executed at Hood’s home, 8 Corbin Court in Niceville, and numerous electronic devices including laptops, were seized.

A recently completed forensic examination turned up images of child pornography on both John Bryan Hood’s devices and also on devices taken from the bedroom of his father, 56-year old John W. Hood. Investigators say the elder Hood had nearly 55,000 images and videos of child pornography and erotica on the devices he accessed and used with his user profile.

John W. Hood was arrested at his home on Thursday, June 16th. He is also charged with possession of marijuana.

John Bryan Hood’s additional warrants were served June 15th at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.

Due to the graphic content we chose not to publish the arrest reports. We also would like to thank the men and women in law enforcement everywhere who are sworn to serve and protect us especially those that are tasked to investigate these types of crimes.
