Ponce De Leon man victim of fatal ATV wreck

19 year old Dustin Douglas Manning of Ponce De Leon, FL was the victim of a fatal ATV wreck when the Honda ATV he was operating was struck by a 2003 Ford Mustang late friday night.
On September 2, 2016 at approximately 11:45 P.M., 33 year old Wesley T. Floyd, of Ponce De Leon, FL, was traveling westbound on CR 183 S in a 2003 Ford Mustang. Dustin Douglas Manning was operating a Honda ATV, that was being pulled by another ATV, southbound on Jasper Floyd Rd approaching the intersection of CR 183 S.
While Floyd was traveling southbound on CR 183 S approaching the intersection of Jasper Floyd Rd, the two ATV’s attempted to cross CR 183 S and pulled into the path of Floyd’s vehicle. The front of the Mustang struck Manning’s ATV in the side ejecting him for the Honda which came to final rest on the south shoulder of CR 183 S. After striking the Honda, the front of the Mustang collided with a guard rail located on the south shoulder of CR 183 S., traveled down an embankment and came to final rest in the ditch.
According the Florida Highway Patrol report the accident is not alcohol related, Manning was not wearing a helmet and both Floyd and his passenger, 29 year oldĀ Heather Ann Mitchell was wearing their seatbelts. The accident is pending further investigation.
According to a Walton County Sheriff’s office press release, a deputy was in the area of Jasper Floyd Rd conducting a security check when he heard the ATV’s. A short time later the ATV’s passed the deputy as he was traveling in the opposite direction. As he was turning around to go after them he heard the crash.
