Pensacola Woman Arrested in Miami, FL for Fatal 2023 DUI Crash on N. Davis Highway.

Escambia County, Fla. — The victims of a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Pace man and injured three others in Escambia County in December of 2023 will finally get justice.
On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at approximately 2pm in the afternoon, a single cab white 2000’s model Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jasmine Tashawri West, who was 22 years old at the time, of Pensacola, FL crossed into the northbound lanes of N. Davis Highway while traveling southbound and collided head on with a black 4dr Sports Utility Vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Pace man and occupied by three other females from Pace ages 12, 14 and 43.
As a result of the crash, the 45-year-old driver died at the scene. The 43- year-old passenger was critically injured, and the two juveniles only received minor injuries in the crash. West was also critically injured because of the head on collision she caused.
During the Traffic Homicide Investigation conducted by the Florida Highway patrol, it was revealed West was under the influence at the time of the crash. A warrant was obtained for West for causing the death and injures while operating a vehicle under the influence and for driving with no driver license.
With West fleeing the area, the Florida Highway Patrol contacted the US Marshals office requesting assistance in locating her. After receiving information, the US Marshals located and arrested West in Miami, FL on Tuesday, May 14th.
Jasmine Tashawri West is now in custody of the Miami-Dade County Jail awaiting extradition to Escambia County to faces charges for:
- 1 count of DUI Manslaughter.
- 1 count of Vehicular Homicide.
- 2 counts of DUI with injuries.
- 1 county of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury.
- 1 count of driving with no license causing death.
- 1 count of driving with no license causing serious bodily injury.
