Blackman, Fla. – A traffic crash in the Blackman Community sends 3 to area hospitals in serious condition.

According to reports from both the Blackman Fire District and the Florida Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle accident sent three people to area hospitals, two by medical helicopter.

The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 8:30 pm Friday evening on Hwy 189 just south of Joe Jordan Rd and tied up traffic for approximately 2 ½ hours while emergency responders were on scene.

The collision was caused when a silver 4-door car, driven by a 58-year-old Crestview, Fla. man, who was north bound on Hwy 189, crossed the center line of the two-lane road, and struck a white van, driven by a 45-year-old Auburn, Ala. woman that was south bound on the roadway. The head-on collision sent both drivers to area hospitals as well as the 12-year-old Auburn, Ala. female passenger of the white van. The traffic crash report indicated both drivers were wearing seatbelts, however the 12-year-old passenger was not. All parties involved in the traffic crash were seriously injured, causing two to be sent by medial helicopter and the other by ambulance. The FHP report did not distinguish who was sent by helicopter.

A total of eight fire personnel from Blackman Fire District Station 70 responded along with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Okaloosa County EMS and two medical helicopters.
