Hwy 90 in Crestview Shut Down Sunday Afternoon After Car Crashes into Utility Pole While Fleeing from Deputies

Crestview, Fla. — A 26-year-old Crestview man, who fled and attempted to elude an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy Sunday afternoon, caused traffic delays on Hwy 90 West when he crashed into a utility pole before fleeing on foot and later being captured and tazed.

On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 2:30 pm, while on patrol, an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a silver 2012 Nissan Sentra with illegal window tint at the intersection of Hwy 90 West (James Lee Blvd) and Old Bethel Road. When the deputy attempted to stop the 4-dr car for the violation, the driver failed to stop and started actively fleeing in an attempt to elude the deputy.

According to the arrest report, the driver, later identified as Nkosi (nn-KOH-see) Seals, reached speeds up to 80 mph while attempting to elude before crashing into a utility pole while attempting to turn onto Lindberg Street. Seals then exited his car fleeing on foot north bound on Lindberg Street before being tazed by the pursuing deputy on foot at the corner of Lindberg and W First Ave.

Deputies recovered forty-eight (48) grams of Marijuana and a green digital scale in the passenger side floorboard of the car Seals was driving.

Three (3) Oxycodone pills were also recovered. One was on the drive side floorboard of the silver Nissan Sentra, a second one on the ground, just outside the driver’s door, and the third one was located next to Seals when he was taken into custody.

Seals later stated he ran because he knew he had more Marijuana within the vehicle than he was supposed to have. He also admitted to seeing and hearing the lights and siren during the pursuit and ignoring the deputy telling him to stop running after he exited his car. According to the report, Seals admitted to purchasing Oxycodone for personal use but would not provide from where or whom.

The west bound lanes of Hwy 90 were shut down and traffic diverted for several hours due to the incident.

Noksi Seals was charged with Flee and attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer with Lights and Sirens Active, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana (Over 20 grams), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released the following day after posting a $13,000 bond and given a court date for May 30th.
