Suspect in Tuesday’s Fatal Officer Involved Shooting Identified

Midway, FL – The suspect that died in an officer involved shooting on Tuesday afternoon has been identified.

According to a news release, the deceased suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Isaac white male Isaac Michael Scroggie with a last known address in Pensacola, FL.

On Tuesday, March 27th at approximately 12:50 p.m. the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a call concerning a suspicious person in the 2000 block of Bright Water Drive in Gulf Breeze (Midway Area).

While the deputy was enroute to the call, his response was upgraded due to Scroggie breaking into the home. Upon the deputy’s arrival, Scroggie walked out and physically confronted the deputy in the driveway of the residence.

During the physical altercation, Scroggie was fatally shot.

The release stated the deputy was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

As a result of the altercation resulting in an Officer Involved Shooting, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was requested to respond to investigate the incident.

According to Sgt. Rich Aloy with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, no further information is expected to be released until FDLE completes their investigation.
