Crestview, FL. — A Texas man attempting to cross S. Ferdon Blvd Saturday night is the latest Traffic Fatality victim in Crestview.

According to a news release from the Crestview Police Department, the traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Wal-Mart Rd. (Mirage Ave.) and South Ferdon Blvd. (Hwy 85 S) shortly before 11:00 pm last night, Saturday, November 14, 2020.

The release stated 49-year-old, Renee M. Longoria of Texas was attempting to cross South Ferdon Blvd when he was struck by a silver Toyota traveling south on Ferdon Boulevard driven by 54-year-old Sun Price of Crestview.

The preliminary accident investigation showed Longoria crossing the south bound lanes of Ferdon Blvd when he was struck. According to statements and video obtained from an in-car camera system, Longoria was crossing in the center of the intersection without utilizing the two available crosswalk features. The investigation also revealed both North and South bound traffic had a green light, and a crosswalk indicator was displaying red at the time Longoria was crossing.

Longoria succumbed to his injuries on scene. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor, the release stated.

The release further stated Price was unable to see or avoid striking Longoria, and no charges will be considered for the driver in this case.
