The Walton Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on the Design Review Board, Local RESTORE Act Committee and Coastal Dune Lake Advisory Board. The following positions are currently vacant.
The Design Review Board has an opening for their volunteer an Affected Property Owner position.
- The Design Review Board shall consist of seven members, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Walton County. The Design Review Board considers all development applications for design review as required by the Land Development Code, Chapter 6 pertaining to the County’s designated scenic corridors. This includes the review of all design review applications as recommended by the Planning Director and Scenic Corridor Review Specialist. In addition, the Design Review Board shall consider and act upon applications for deviations from the requirements of the scenic corridor standards in Chapter 6. The Design Review Board is also tasked with the approval of alternative building technologies and/or new building materials, and may periodically review the design review process and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding appropriate amendments that may be necessary to further the design review program and/or improve the efficiency of the program. (Requires the filling of an Annual Financial Disclosure Form)
The Local RESTORE Act Committee has an opening for their volunteer Community Leader position.
- A Local RESTORE Act Committee has been established by Walton County to comply with federal law. In July 2012 the U.S. Congress Walton County adopted Resolution 2013-25 on May 28, 2013 to provide guidance for its efforts and to establish a Local RESTORE Act Committee to assure public input to the process as required by the RESTORE Act. The committee of 11 unpaid volunteers from various constituencies in the county was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. It is tasked to solicit, evaluate and recommend projects and programs to be funded directly to the county (Pot #1). The Committee will develop an application format and process to implement guidance in the Act for Pot #1 funding.
The Coastal Dune Lake Advisory Committee has an opening for their volunteer North of the Bay position.
- The Coastal Dune Lakes Advisory Board is comprised of residents and partners with Walton County, to ensure the protection, health and environmental integrity of the county’s globally rare and imperiled Coastal Dune Lakes and to provide sound recommendations to the Walton County Board of Commissioners. The Coastal Dune Lakes Advisory Board monitors the watersheds and the Coastal Dune Lake Protection Zones of 15 Coastal Dune Lakes for activities that affect the environmental conservation of the lakes.
